WOODSIDE MOUNTED PATROL

FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS, THE WOODSIDE MOUNTED PATROL HAS BEEN HOSTING EVENTS THAT THE GIVE THE RESIDENTS AND THE NEIGHBORS OF WOODSIDE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN EQUESTRIAN RELATED ACTIVITIES. THESE EVENTS ALLOW PEOPLE OF THE AREA TO MIX AND BE SOCIAL. THIS GIVES THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO KNOW THEIR NEIGHBORS A BIT MORE THAN A QUICK WAVE FROM THE CAR OR A BRIEF HELLO AT THE MARKET.

FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS, I HAVE ATTEND THE "SONGS AND POETRY OF THE WEST" EVENT HOSTED BY THE WOODSIDE MOUNTED PATROL, AND FOR ONE EVENING OUT OF THE SUMMER I HAVE FELT THAT I AM ACTUALLY EXPERIENCING THE WEST…NOT THE CALIFORNIA OF TODAY…TRAFFIC, TENSION, AND THE PURSUIT OF WEALTH… BUT THE WEST AND THE WOODSIDE OF THE PAST…OPEN SPACES, PEACEFULNESS AND A SHARING COMMUNITY.

THANK YOU, MOUNTED PATROL, FOR GIVING ME ONE EVENING'S GLIMPSE INTO WHAT COULD BE.

SCOTT MARSHALL
